Bunk beds are a great way to save money and space. However, as a family-owned business with kids of our own, the safety of children is our number one priority. Below are some simple yet essential tips to ensure your loved ones are safe.

Follow factory recommendations:

*Use only mattresses 74” – 75” long and 37-1/2” – 38-1/2” wide on the upper bunk

*Ensure the upper mattress is 5” below the upper guardrails

*Don’t exceed the allowable weight limit on both the upper and lower bunk

*Avoid placing the bunk or loft bed close to a ceiling fan or directly in front of a window

*Use guardrails on both sides of the upper bunk

*Periodically tighten the nuts and bolts hardware to ensure stability

Use your judgment:

*Don’t allow children under 6 years-old on the upper bunk

*Prohibit horse play on or under the bed(s)

*Teach kids how to carefully climb the ladder

*Install a night light near the ladder

*Don’t allow children to attach ropes, scarves or belts to the bunk bed This will keep them safe from accidental strangulation
