It’s the (Second) Most Exciting Time of the Year

It’s that time of year again... No, it isn’t Christmas shopping season yet; that starts just after Labor Day! It’s that time of year when students around the country are readying themselves to start college as freshmen, or they are returning to start another year as Sophomores, Juniors, or Seniors. Regardless if one is attending public or private institutions, almost 4 out of 5 college students live either in an on-campus dormitory, or an off-campus residence. This means purchasing furniture, bedding and other day-to-day necessities becomes a priority in order to make the college experience as comfortable as possible in the hopes of productivity leading to good grades, and then, hopefully, a job after graduating.

Loft Beds with Workstation Desk.

For a casual look and functional designs, loft beds are a practical addition to any dorm room. A bed on top with a spacious workstation desk underneath, it allows to create a space that makes sleeping and studying easy!

Is It a Couch? Is It a Bed? Yes. Yes It Is Both.

Bunk Beds with futons are tremendously versatile in that they serve three purposes; a bunk bed on top and a futon underneath that’s a couch by day, and a bed by night. They have small footprints, meaning they’re the perfect solution for those sharing space in a dorm. Many designs have space for under-bed storage drawers, so an already useful product becomes even more so.

Home Computer Desks, Because They Do Work in College… Right?

The computer desk. As simple as they can be, they have become legends in their own right. For weeks at a time, they may sit as a catch-all in the dorm. All manner of objects may end up there, slowly consuming any usable desktop area for actual work. Then, at some point in the semester, panic sets in. The desktop is instantaneously cleaned, as if a wildfire cleared a patch of woods, and work begins. The computer desk… Home of the 3am term paper. Savior of semesters everywhere and it doesn’t hurt if it happens to come with bluetooth speakers !

Tie It All Together

Wall tapestries have been used for centuries to help keep the cold, hard walls of castles a little warmer and quieter by blocking drafts and absorbing sound waves that would normally make life in the castle most unpleasant. This concept is once again popular today in places like dorm rooms or classrooms. Customized tapestries are easy to make, and can be created using fabric remnants glued or stitched to plywood, canvas, or other lightweight material. It is a great alternative to mundane posters found in other dorms. An accent chair should also become a consideration in the decoration process, it helps the dorm room take on a personality of its own. The bunk bed in turn, when adorned with patterned comforters and offset with bright, decorative throw pillows, it becomes a focal point guaranteed to be the envy of the whole student body!

Maybe They’ll Want to Stay There All Year!

These ideas are sure to please your college student and will look great because the finished product is limited only by their imagination. In fact, their dorm may look so good, they may look to stay there all year! Now... Didn’t you have plans for their old bedroom?
